Modern Interpretation

I have been talking lately about my love for all things antique turned modern. I have been collecting inspiration as I am currently planning to turn my newly acquired shabby chic chair into something wildly modern. I’ve already picked out some great Marimekko fabric to take it from country to glam. If you have the same visions as I do, below is some inspiration to go from old and traditional to modern and chic.

Domino Magazine continues to be a great inspiration. I love this beautiful antique chair but in this plum fabric it’s completely new and bold.

Damask goes mod. Something about this bright white frame and the sloped arms on this Horchow chair make it more than the traditional side chair.

This image is from the Brooklyn store Layla. I have been looking at it for weeks now. The hot pink fabric against that cool white frame and with that retro bag – gotta love it!

The Antoinette Fainting Sofa from Urban Outfitters is simply beautiful. The curved arms, tufted seat and deep back make you just want to sink into it. And with that apple green fabric, this sofa can be taken out of the parlor and into a fab city condo.

Kudos to Domino again. Turn something old completely new with bright jewel tones. I also love this blue table. Talk about funky.

The Peony Chair from Brocade Home is truly a modern interpretation. This antique style with a pop of color will add classic tradition to the modern home.
