African Chic
A recent post on Desire to Inspire highlighted the gorgeous work of photographer Katya de Grunwald. Having work featured in top interior design publications, including House & Garden, Martha Stewart Living and Elle Decoration, Katya’s work is deeply inspiring. With a range of both personal and commercial work, I immediately fell in love with her portfolio, African Chic.
Featured in Elle Decoration, African Chic captures another side of Africa beyond the generic “safari style”. Here, African style meets couture with elegant feathers, detailed textiles, bold shapes, and refined color.
Here is just a peek into the work of this London-based photographer. Visit her site to see more of Katya’s beautiful photography.
Thanks for the link. Love the chairs in image three.Your new look is great, by the way :)
Wow… is all I have to say. I’ve been looking for someone who captures the depth of “African Chic” for a long time as opposed to the overdone generic you mentioned. Beautiful!
Beautiful images!! Very inspired and well done. The new blog look is great too!!
wow! i love the table and chair set. i will have to grab a copy of elle decoration.
I adore the table and chairs too! The lines of the chairs are amazing. Yay for Africa chic. Cough, but then again, I live in Africa:)
Thank you for the wonderful comments! The table and chairs in image three are amazing. I will have to do a little research, and find out where they are from.
I live in South Africa and so am surrounded by African design. Lot’s of it I find completely overdone and unexciting – but this! Original. Interesting. Beautiful. Thanks Jeanine! I also want to say that for those who like this sort of African design, I think you’d love the <>Mongoose bags<> on my website. Take a look at http://babazeka.com.
