Design On A Dime Presented By Real Simple

I was so happy when Natasha from Time Inc. sent over these photos from the Real Simple / Design On A Dime charity event held last week in New York City. Featuring several top designers, including Thom Filicia, Charlotte Moss, and Sills Huniford, the charity event benefited Housing Works, a national AIDS-service organization. And yes, that is Maggie Gyllenhaal pictured above, co-chair of the event.

One of my favorites is this room by Sills Huniford. Featuring some of my favorite West Elm pieces like the koi and antler table lamps, I love the nautical and earthy theme of the room.

This gorgeous room was designed by none other than Thom Filicia. Thom has some wonderful design elements in this small space. The space feels light and airy with the clean, neutral palette, and carefully chosen pieces like the lucite chairs and glass table. A beautifully designed interior that can always be built upon with accents of color.

This room by Ernest De La Torre is an ode to Americana. While I am not one for a red, white and blue theme, what I love about this room is how my eye is drawn to that crisp white wall flanked by two gorgeous lamps. Symmetry is so important here, and the space feels so much larger with this vertical layout.

A two-day sale followed the opening event, where the public was able to purchase items featured in the rooms for 60-80% off the retail price. All of the proceeds benefited the work of Housing Works.

This event should inspire all of us in the world of design to use our passion to support those in need. Wonderful work everyone! Thank you Natasha!
