What is a design without vision? Many times I find myself looking through an interiors magazine and coming upon modern interiors where I wonder, where is the vision? What makes this space special?
In my own interior design projects, I have tried to work hard to be guided by a vision, my own keen sense, that emotional place that tells me whether or not I’m going in the right direction. And I look to interior designers who do the same for continued inspiration. That is why I absolutely love Ilse Crawford. Not only does she have a vision, but she understands the way people need to live. Her projects are more like stories that she has brought to life through the world of interior design. Whether a residential home, hotel, or restaurant, she creates spaces that are modern with a human touch.
I promise you I am not going to write a treatise on design right now, but instead I hope you are as inspired by Ilse’s work as much as I am. I hope that you can see that homes are not created through a set of rules or fixed design, but instead that the most creative design is expressive, emotional, and satisfies our daily lives. I aspire to have Ilse’s keen sense one day as a designer, and not just to develop pretty rooms, but rooms that really speak to the people who live in them.
