Have you started your holiday decorating yet? We always put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. The morning is spent doing a family tradition. Every year we buy one new ornament, and then enjoy a day of Thanksgiving leftovers, Christmas music, and trimming the tree.
A few weeks ago I received the CB2 holiday catalogue which got me so excited about decorating. One of the things I love about this year’s catalogue is seeing rooms where the holiday decor fits seamlessly into the existing color palette and style of the space. It’s the perfect way to do modern holiday.
My own living room has a lot of pinks and purples, and so the decorations on our tree and throughout our apartment are a natural extension of our existing decor. Instead of a bunch of kitschy red and green, we choose baubles and accessories that complement rather than clash with the way we live.
The CB2 catalogue also showcases some of my favorite holiday decorating ideas that can fit beautifully into any decor. Placing a group of brightly colored metallic ornaments in a glass vase is a simple and elegant way to introduce holiday decorations. Felt trees in bright white can add that little holiday touch on a bookshelf or credenza. And candles, whether in their adorable little Elf Candleholders, or glass or crystal holders, are the perfect way to add a festive touch.
So, how do you decorate for the holidays? When do you decorate the tree? Do you have any special traditions? I would love to hear about them.
