I got back from LA last week and after a week’s worth of rest (man, did I need it), I am so excited to be back to blogging. I wanted to take you inside our week-long trip, with our fabulous team, which included me, my co-author and husband, Bryan Mason; my sister and stylist, Angela Belt; and our fabulous photographer Patrick Cline. We shot five homes over seven amazing days in the sunshine. The house shoots took us to every part of Los Angeles, from Studio City to Baldwin Hills, and beyond.
We were extremely excited to work with Nissan, who sponsored our drive through LA by letting us test drive the fabulous Murano. This car had the works, and I’ll be bringing you more from our Nissan experience later this month.
One of the first stops on our trip was the Jonathan Adler store in West Hollywood. JA has been our go-to place for styling accessories. There are so many adorable tchotchkes.
Our next stop in West Hollywood was a visit to Kelly Wearstler’s brand new store on Melrose. To say it was incredible is an understatement. As you walk inside the shop, it’s like walking directly into Kelly’s world. The store has lots of color, great fashion, and amazing art and decor. It’s a must-visit!

Our second shoot took us to Venice Beach. I have never been to Venice before, and it was cool to see how eclectic the area is. We met up with Vanessa De Vargas from Turquoise LA (isn’t she gorgeous!?), and shot some of her fabulous work. Don’t we look cool in our sunglasses?
After the shoot the team headed over to Hotel Erwin, which has the best view in Venice for sure, and the best cocktails too. My recommendation – the spiked hot chocolate.
Over the weekend, Bry and Patrick and I went to Malibu Beach for some sunshine. The beach, the homes, and the food at the Reel Inn – it was all so fabulous. Afterwards my hubby and I drove the PCH. A scary, but exhilarating experience for sure.
The next day we did our fourth shoot, and then took off to Beverly Hills.

The Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills is so wonderfully old-school Hollywood. I’m so thankful that Patrick introduced us to this unique space.
Kelly Wearstler designed the hotel, bringing together mid-century modern design, and her trademark Hollywood glam style. My favorite spaces in the hotel were the private cabanas by the pool. The patterned walls are stunning.

After seven days it was a wrap. The hubby and I were so happy with the results from the shoots, and we hope that you will be too. The books is going to look fabulous. I promise!
