It’s wonderful to be introduced to the work of someone who thinks outside the box. That is what fashion illustrator Brittany Holloway-Brown has done in creating her Uzuri series. Uzuri, means “beauty” in Swahili. The series brings together depictions of tribal African women in a Western fashion editorial style.

Gorgeous watercolor pieces featuring African women in painted clothing, headdresses, and tribal patterns are all apart of Brittany’s exploration of African uzuri.
You can discover more of Brittany’s work on her website. And while she doesn’t have items for sale just yet, I am keeping my fingers crossed that she’ll start an Etsy or Big Cartel site soon (just a little nudge from me Brittany).
