Hank Mitchell’s Cultural Bed-Stuy Interior
In the Bed-Stuy home of designer Hank Mitchell, cultural touches are everywhere. Through art, global objects, and textiles, Hank has designed a modern home that speaks to his heritage and his own personal story. Behind the ladder (the only way up to his home office) a casually curated collection of paintings and black and white photographs speak to his own personal history.
In the living room, light blue walls are the perfect backdrop to the various pieces in the space. A textured fireplace surround, metal side chair, and natural wood table are enveloped in a room filled with a diverse art collection. The red painting hung on the right is a treasured piece painted by Hank’s sister who has since passed away.
The simple nook that houses the bed comes to life with a vibrant Kente cloth blanket and Kuba pillow.
Hank’s bathroom is truly breathtaking. It’s a water closet with so many shower heads, that I can admit I’m absolutely jealous!
