AphroChic worked to capture the perfect slice of modern Brooklyn life with two, 600-square foot public lounge spaces created for the BKLYN Designs Showcase during New York Design Week. Housed within two large, A-frame structures that we designed and built inside the Brooklyn Expo Center, the lounges were designed to be experiential, offering unique ways for the public to engage with Brooklyn-based design and the vibe of Brooklyn life. Each room featured a gallery wall art exhibit comprised of works from local artists supplied by Saatchi Art and curated by AphroChic. Meanwhile a larger, progressive art mural installation was created over the three days of the event. A live DJ supplied hip-hop music from some of Brooklyn’s most iconic musicians and AphroChic hosted panel discussions on design, art and color with notable design personalities and the head curator of Saatchi Art Online.
