Sugar and Spice

I’ve been thinking a lot about modern baby room’s lately. With a good friend who’s about to have a baby girl, I can’t help but think about what would look great in a modern baby girl’s room. Here are a few ideas below. Check out Ann Wood’s one-of-a-kind handmade birds that would look great in any little girl’s room. Designer Jenifer Altman has cute “mommy cards” that are like business cards for mom’s. I already have a friend in mind who would love them. Modern Nursery has really great toys for kids including this pink race car. How cute is that?! They also have really great artwork for a little girl’s room, some which can be personalized with your little girl’s name. And this Helen Ige Chandelier Mobile, well I don’t know if I can wait for a baby. They sell it at Friend in San Francisco, and I just might need one in both black and white. Have fun searching for the perfect finds for your modern nursery.

Tradition with a Twist

After perusing through old issues of Domino magazine this weekend, there was a chair that I became completely obsessed with. An old Louis the XIV style chair from Oly that would go perfectly with my newly acquired Louis Ghost Armchair. Oly presents traditional style with a modern twist. Whether through funky fabrics or a strong pop of color you will definitely find something to add a little bit of tradition to your modern home.

Anthropologie bring us rustic romance in their Spring collection. With elegant twig-like shapes, curvy wrought iron, and carved wood, these items are fit for a ranch or bungalow. And with just a hint of elegance and romance, you’re likely to feel like you’re in an enchanted story waiting to find that fairytale prince or princess.

Hanging from above, this Hemlock Chandelier will make you think you’re seeing stars through its iron branches.
This Heirloom Tomato Loveseat is curvy and elegant, and perfect for outdoors.

This Hand Carved Deer would look perfect over the fireplace.

The Who’s The Fairest Mirror. Surely the fairest of them all.

They Call It Mellow Yellow

Right now yellow is absolutely everywhere. This springs number one color, it has taken me awhile to get used to the comeback. Not always my favorite interiors color, yellow really didn’t inspire, but now in hues that have that dark vintage feel, and that can stand along deep chocolate browns and the traditional black and white color palette, yellow is adding depth and liveliness to the modern interior. Check out these inspirational picks to be inspired by the new yellow.
