Modern Art

I am back from having a terrible sinus infection, but feel renewed after hearing from many of you while I was sick. I am so glad that people love this blog. It’s just complete fun for me to share with you the things I love, and things that I think will add to your home and your personal style. This week, it’s all about modern art. There are some fantastic artists out there, so many whose unique view will add that special something to your personal collection.

Today, I would like to introduce you to Nanoo Shai. I first saw them on Apartment Therapy, and their work is cool, funky and fabulous! Their pieces, which feel 70s inspired, come in a variety of sizes and colors, perfect for any wall in your home.

Brown Woman, is my favorite piece in the collection. I love her funky, flirtatious style and that outrageous afro. She is definitely AphroChic.

Reminiscent of Foxy Brown, this piece, Shadow, is a definite throwback to the 1970s.

Mitz in brown and beige is definitely something different. With an almost anime-like style, she will add something new and unexpected to any modern art collection.

Lemony Yellow

Lemons are on my mind right now since I currently have the worst cold I’ve had in decades. But as I suffer through sniffling and sneezing, I am reminded of Anthropologie’s beautiful lemon plant pots. A definite sign of spring, and of the end of winter colds. Planted with some beautiful Meyer lemon trees from Smith & Hawken, these pots are sure to bring an end to those wintry blues.

Pop Art With A Vintage Twist

I am crazy about all things vintage right now. Mixing vintage finds with modern style gives each room a bit a soul, and helps to tell a story – your story. Check out Lake Illustration on Etsy. Artist Oliver Lake creates pop art illustrations of old Blues and Jazz performers that bring that vintage feel home. It’s like these artists live on your walls, telling their stories through music, and adding a bit of history to that sometimes all-to modern decor.

The Grass is Greener at Brocade Home

Brocade Home just released a new line of outdoor furniture. Their furnishings appeal to the girly side in all of us. Curvy lines, beautifully upholstered fabrics, and a stated elegance. If you’re looking to add something new to your outdoor space, you will surely find something unique and lovely in their new outdoor collection.

Get Color

Say hello to spring by adding color to your home, and look no further than Marimekko’s new Spring 2007 collection. With fabrics ranging in color from bright acid greens to leafy yellows, there is a little something for everyone. And with the site’s wall hanging kits, you can turn every piece of fabric into a work of art. So, what are you waiting for? Get started and add some color to your home.

Merci Beaucoup

This was Aphrochic’s first week, and it has been an exciting one. People are beginning to catch on, and I know that many of you are enjoying the site. Thank you so much, and I hope you keep coming back. And when you visit, leave a comment or two. I would love to know your thoughts. Have a great weekend!
While I’m away for the weekend, enjoy checking out Binth. These notepads are my absolute favorite. Perfect for keeping things modern and fashionable even in the office. You’ll love jotting down notes from now on.

Slumber in Spring

As Spring is ushered in, we start to think about how we want to spend those long breezy days ahead – picnics, ice cream in the park, and sleeping in on a beautiful spring day. The Amenity Spring/Summer 2007 collection will have you thinking about those sweet spring slumbers.
