Abstract Portraits By Jerome Lagarrigue

Jerome Lagarrigue is a French-American artist raised in Paris. A few months ago we visited him in his Brooklyn studio to see his work up close and personal. His large-scale oil paintings are stunning, and must be seen in person. It’s hard not to touch the paintings layered in so much color and deep textures. His subject matters are modern ones, with studies of local Brooklynites and New York boxers. Both Bryan and I have a particular affinity for his Round Zero series featuring boxers. As fans of the sport, we would love to have a collection of these in our own home. If you’re looking for an opportunity to see Jerome’s work up close and personal, visit The Cecil in Harlem where his large-scale painting takes center stage.

Amazing Portraits By French Painter Thomas Saliot

I have been falling in love with portraiture lately. Recently I was introduced to the work of French painter Thomas Saliot. His modern portraits really appeal to me. He is inspired by imagery on the web, and his pieces are truly snapshots of real life. He takes a moment that looks as if it’s from Instagram or Facebook, and turns it into art with his brush. Here are just a few of my favorites. My goal is to bring one of these pieces home this year.

You can find Thomas’ work on Saatchi.
