Going into someone’s home and exploring their collections is one of my favorite things to do. A collection is a wonderful way to express who you are in your interior. In our home we collect art, but in others I have seen everything from snow globes, to something that came to mind this morning – vintage cameras. While vintage black and white cameras might not be in use that much these days, the cameras that your mom and dad, or your grandparents once used, can be beautiful pieces to put on display. These images show that just a few, like six, or a host of them, like 26, can make a pretty cool and unique display. With all of this talk about cameras, I also want to be sure that you are checking out the Interior Angle with Patrick Cline articles on the AphroChic About.com page. Be sure to check out his latest, The Life Styled, as he explores the lifestyle branding in some New York’s hottest stores, including Ralph Lauren Home and Club Monaco.
It’s time for good music! The weather is warmer, summer is just a month away, and the entertaining season has begun. I’m itching to throw a big house party this year. I want to go all out with a DJ, some good friends, food, and vintage hip-hop records playing in the background. This party obsession has me wanting a record player badly this summer. There is nothing like the sound of an LP. And with mid-century modern furniture all the rage right now, maintaining a record collection at home is easy. Streamlined sideboards and hutches are the perfect fit for record players and a growing collection of LPs. Here are just a few ideas for storing your favorite records at home.
