6 Design Lessons from Neuehouse

Erykah Badu has been a DJ at some of their parties, Estelle has sung there, Shantell Martin drew on the walls, and Kate Middleton attended a party there. We’re talking about Neuehouse, one the coolest spots in New York. Part co-working office, event space, and cool hang pad, one step into Neuehouse and you immediately feel at home. Architect and Designer David Rockwell has crafted an innovative interior that is functional, and so very stylish. Filled with classic, tailored furnishings, rustic details, a cool collection of art, and layers of global objects, we thought it would be great to distill some of the key takeaways from the design of a space that is equal parts work and play. Circular Desks Are The New Trend In Office Decor

Since ninety-percent of the work we do at AphroChic is from home, it’s definitely important to have a home office that’s comfortable, and also multi-functional. Some days we’re designing on the computer, other days we’re cutting fabric and wallpaper samples, and then we also have to host meetings with partners we’re collaborating with. With so many needs, I’m in search of some new furnishings that will help our office perform double, and even triple duty at times. After weeks of looking, I think I’ve finally landed on a must-have – a circular desk. Something like the IKEA Docksta table that can be a desk when we need it to be, but can also function as a meeting table when clients or designers are over. A circular desk would also be the perfect fit for the small space that our office occupies. Here are just a few images that are inspiring me to work in circles from now on.
